The United Kingdom’s vote to leave the European Union on 23rd June 2016 represents a seminal event opening an age of uncertainty for the UK and the whole of Europe. The author analyses the antecedents of the British referendum, the internal political situation of this country and the risk of dislocation. He also delivers a sharp evaluation of its economic, legal and political implications. But there is also the hope that this watershed moment could represent a wakeup call for Europe, who has to rethink herself and needs her Europeans.
